speaking of advertising...

Now in contrast to the tissue issue, THIS is an ad that makes it absolutely CLEAR why men need to buy the fucking car. Despite the fact that they are all being enslaved by their overbearing wives, forced to listen to meaningless gossip all day and aren't even allowed to throw their dirty undies on the floor in their own home (can you imagine?), the solution is simple. DRIVE. THIS. CAR. It's viagra on wheels. Oh yeah, and it was broadcast during this year's superbowl.

Clearly, they can afford much more skilled marketing and PR staff. I am still rather bored with this codswallop. Dodge, if you really want to offend me, at least make the effort to come up with something new.

  1. I know, i was really pissed of when i saw the ad. But i very much like the answer to that ad. "Woman's Last Stand". It cleary shows how absurd, BUT shocking this whole campaign is.

I must admit that sometimes these are the moments where i question the possibility of ever changing deep-rooted heteronormativity in society. But then again - these are the moments motivating me to do my bit for change, too. And this includes giving people a reality check on adverts like that.

  2. Excellent. The only thing that puzzles me is that there actually is no 'last stand' for women in that ad, they kind of stopped spoofing Dodge half way and resorted to plain sarcasm. So I laughed, but it was a bitter laugh. This makes me sad. I was hoping they'd try to sell some absurd gadget that would put an end to all my female inferiority. A second pair of breasts maybe. - Alva

It's a fake, Guinness is not responsible for this. But someone is.

  6. actually, the "man's last stand"-commercial is totally insulting the men themselves. what you could learn from that commercial (if you took it seriuously) is: the men who buy those kind of cars are short-dick men who can't stand for themselves, let other people tell them what to do and therefore need something to get over that. that's what i always thought, but i didn't think men saw it the same way? or maybe it was a woman directing the commercial? i wouldn't bet on that one.

i don't like the women's answer. it's not funny at all, it's just angry. puts women on the same level als the short-dick men with low self-esteem. i don't want to be one of those, thanks.

    ps: my dick's huuuge!
